An Opal from Koroit

We have less than 4 days to go for Spring,
here in Gold coast...
Exciting??? Yes, very much!!!

Such as my feeling right now,
we have got a new exciting beauty.

An 100% natural,
 Boulder Opal from Koroit, QLD.

In general, this field is famous for Matrix Opal,
which is an opal mixed with the parent rock (ironstone) .
like a picture below.

Because the special formation of ground,
which creats rare and unique Boulder opals,
the opal has vivid red, green, yellow, blue
and so on, involved with a natural looking ironstone.

Soft, but joyful rainbow colours in a good shape
is definitely hard to come...

It would be a so much fun for you!!

It girl!!

When you chose a good gemstone
for someone special,
you would like to give something PERFECT.

Today, I had a Chinese gentleman
who is looking for a Black Opal for his GF.

He has done his research in Opal very well
so that has a clear vision of what he wants.

His request was....

1, red colour
2, bright
3, oval shape
4, BLACK OPAL (not even Boulder Opal!!)
5, high dome
6, should be about 1carat but not over 2carat

Moreover, he has a badget of $1000.....

It took more than 1 hour to select one....
And we ended up with a beautiful and
PERFECT Black Opal!!!

Not only red but also so many other colours.
Price, shape and size are absolutely perfect!!

This is his IT girl :)

An opal which warm me up

We are in the middle of the cold winter here in Gold Coast,
and there is only one way to warm me up...

To look at those BURNING FIRE on Opal...
hahaha....

This magnificent RED Boulder Opal has
37.17 carat for its largeness,
and has a FINE FIGURE.

Look, don't you think so???

Those chunk of colours,
in Pin Fire as well as Palette pattern,
are sparkling strongly on the ironstone....

Always fall in love with natural art like this.

"RED COLOR" ... a powerful one!

My favorite color ... "RED" !!

Everytime I make a new 'opal beads bracelet' or 'opal beads earrings', I tend to use lots of RED or ORANGE without realizing. This color must have a strong meaning or a special energy to me, hehehe...

At the same time, I always think "NOP, red is beautiful however green color will suit me when I place many gemstones against my skin color" .
Perhaps what you like is a little bit different to what suits you... and it also depends on how you feel on that particular situation, right?!!??

"RED COLOR" ... It is valuable color in Black Opal family. This color has lots of stimulation and energy, helping you to overtake the leadership when necessary. If you want a success, passion and courage in life, I strongly recommend you carry or wear some red color items before stepping out of the house!!!

Red On Black

Have a look at this video on our You Tube channel!!!

Solid Australian Black Opal from Lightning Ridge

It's rare to see such a RED!!!!!

If it is a ruby, it should be called a "pigeon red"
to express it's glowing appearance.

If it is a coral, it should be called a "oxblood red"
which means a top quality of all.

If you are looking for a fire opal
by expecting like a Mexican "fire" opal,
you will be even surprised
due to its dark and bright appearance.

A true top quality red opal or fire opal
would have a really vivid red colour
 on the black body tone.

Yes, we call "RED ON BLACK".

Wooooo, it definitely takes our breath away!!!!

A little quiz

Which opal is more "Expensive" ????

a) Solid Black Opal 6.13 carat

OR

b) Solid Black Opal 4.15 carat

I sometimes ask the same question to customers,
and they usualy answer "a)" is more expensive than b),
because of its largeness and red colour.

As you already might know,
red colour is the most rarest colour in Black Opal.
And size is very important to judge its value.

I got the point,
but the truth is ........."b)".
"b)" is more expensive than "a)"....

Let me exlpain!!

Talking about a),
yes, red colour is involved and larger than b).....

On the other hand,
a)'s body tone is kind of gray
therefore it affects the value,
even though a) has a rare red colour...

The other point is,
 don't forget "brilliancy"!!!!
Without it, any gemstone will be insignificant.....

Accordingly,
I have to say b) is more expensive than a).

However, final choice is always up to you!!
If you think the one is beautiful
and it looks good on your skin,
no matter what I say about the rareness,
why not :)

Gemstone is for making you feel super special
and last forever, always beside you.

So choose the one with your heart!

Red Red Red

Red Red Red......

The most rarest colour in Opal.
And they make "Lightning Ridge" so famous!!!

Only Lightning Ridge
produces those dark and vivid colour materials.
therefore, Opals with "red in black"
is hardly possible to find...

Never be perfect.
 Red involved but too thin,
or cloudy, or too small...

Do you really like red colour??
And Does it look good on your skin???

Then you will enjoy red colour for good!!!

True story!

Good afternoon.

Today, 17th of March is St Patric's Day!!

Local Aussies are celebrating this special day!!

By the way,
here is a story.

Isidore Kozminsky in the 1922 edition of his book The Magic and Science of Jewels and Stones states that "perhaps against no other gem has the bigotry of superstitious ignorance so prevailed as against the wonderful opal."
He also cites several historical references to the talismanic qualities of opal including the story of a French baron who resided in London, who owned an opal that had been in t...
he family since the twelfth century. In 1908 he took the opal to the London Pavilion where a soothsayer told him that the opal would bring him good fortune and that he was about to inherit £500,000! The London newspaper "Evening News" reported that within a few days the soothsayers' prediction had come true, it also stated that the ancient opal had a feint inscription in old Spanish, which translated to the words "Good Luck".

You love RED, don't you!?

Hello everyone.

It's always fun for me to choose an opal with customer.

Everyone has a different taste.

I can see their personality from the way they choose an opal :)

Also, some people like a green piece, some like a large opal, and some only like a black opal.

A gentleman who purchased this beautiful "sunset red" opal likes only RED!!
I explained how blue-green opals are nice, and he totally understood, but he backed to RED :)

Our designer, Malayvone Souvannavong drew beautiful

designs in a pendant.

Because this opal has a natural sandy spot on the surface, so she can design it into a special piece!!

Have a lovely day.xxx
