Play of color on Black Opal

As you might know,

opals, especially Australian opals, have "play of colour".

Each opal can change its color depending

on the lighting or the way you look at.

 If you see 100 stones of opals,

you can find 100 different colours from them.

This is the main reason why opal is so unique

compared to other gems.

So, here it is!!!

On this Black Opal, you can see 2 completely

different colours!!

I took a picture from above.

You see so deep green colour, like the Earth.

Then, let's take a look from the front.

WOW!!

I changed the angle just a bit,

but its colour has ovbiously changed!!

Now, from the side. 

Blue, but not the same as the picture above.

I guess it shows a strong and bright blue!!

Again, only Black and Boulder opal from Australia

can show this interesting play of colour.

Good afternoon!!

Australian Black Opal Loose Stone (SOLID) 2.35carat

In fact, it is a double face (reversible) opal!!!

So let's see on the other side of it.

Wow!!!

This Australian Black Opal has a completely

different pattern on the other side!!

means, you can enjoy 2 types of character

in one piece!!!!

Having 2 faces means it has a really deep oparized area

therefore colours it's showing should be very strong and deep.

Moreover, with the dark body tone like this Black Opal

kicks the colour rather than with a milky body tone.

It's a quite good deal, I have to say...

In the end,

 when someone pick up this opal and consider

to make a jewellery with it,

the designer and jeweller will help to make some sort of

special design, to see both side all the time.

A little quiz

Which opal is more "Expensive" ????

a) Solid Black Opal 6.13 carat

OR

b) Solid Black Opal 4.15 carat

I sometimes ask the same question to customers,

and they usualy answer "a)" is more expensive than b),

because of its largeness and red colour. 

As you already might know,

red colour is the most rarest colour in Black Opal.

And size is very important to judge its value.

I got the point,

but the truth is ........."b)".

"b)" is more expensive than "a)"....

Let me exlpain!!

Talking about a),

yes, red colour is involved and larger than b).....

On the other hand,

a)'s body tone is kind of gray

therefore it affects the value,

even though a) has a rare red colour...

The other point is,

 don't forget "brilliancy"!!!!

Without it, any gemstone will be insignificant.....

Accordingly,

I have to say b) is more expensive than a).

However, final choice is always up to you!!

If you think the one is beautiful

and it looks good on your skin,

no matter what I say about the rareness, 

why not :)

Gemstone is for making you feel super special

and last forever, always beside you.

So choose the one with your heart!

Good afternoon.

I am very familiar with the picture in this opal.

When I dive into the ocean and go deep,

I always look upward and

enjoy the glinting water, 

a group of swimming fish

and sunlight coming through the water.

In this opal,

I see some turtles or

a large manta and stingrays

are swimming in the ocean...

It reminds me

how calm and beautiful being a part of the sea is.

New year shoppings...

In Surfers Paradise, we are having the busiest season. Many tourists are everywhere who enjoy the beautiful sunny weather, nice relax feelings on the beach, having meals and drinks and shopping!!

They never ever come in the same colour, shape or size.
It makes them very special, almost too special...

Recently, we said BYE to this fabulous Black opal...

What I like about this opal was amazingly large size (8 carat!!!!) with super bright and deep colours ( not only one colour but uncountable colours!!!!), its large pattern as well as  its desirable shape.

It would be one of the customer's exclusive collection, who had been looking for this opal for many years!! I am so happy for the customer and the opal too!!!
